Every Child Warm This Winter

Here at the Blanket Bank we aim to reduce the high incidence of respiratory disease among whānau living in Christchurch’s high-deprivation neighbourhoods. Respiratory disease is the third most common cause of death in New Zealand, and Māori and Pacific children are the most severely affected.

We have called our winter appeal Every Child Warm This Winter as a reminder of our mission to continuously work towards improving the health and wellbeing of tamariki and their whānau. By supporting our appeal, you are helping to secure better health and wellbeing for many tamariki from these and other communities. Your gift will ensure that we have sufficient items for struggling whānau, keeping them warm during the cold months and removing a financial stressor.

We rely on donations from the general public to maintain our stock levels of bedding and blankets. If you can support us by making a donation, we'd be extremely grateful.

Thank you for joining us on this mission!

The Blanket Bank is a Christchurch Methodist Mission project of giving and receiving, free from judgement, he ngākau aroha (work of the heart). The Blanket Bank distributes duvets, blankets and bedding for free to individuals and whānau. Many homes in Ōtautahi are still insufficiently insulated and bearing the costs of heating and bedding is hard for many whānau. We are committed to supporting anyone who can benefit from receiving a package from the Blanket Bank - the only criteria for accessing the service is a need for warm bedding.
